Born and educated
in Philadelphia, Lisa Zador hasmade her home in Manhattan's
West Village where she has worked as a freelance illustrator
and textile designer for the past 20 years. Her versatility
as an artist has resulted in collaborations with a wide variety
of clients.
Retro
Lisa is nothing if not
nostalgic and her fondness for days gone by shines through in her
retro textile designs for clients such as Nick & Nora,
Town & Country Living, and Springs Industries.
In 2002 Stewart,
Tabori & Chang issued two series of note cards,
the tropically themed, 1950s set Babalu and the 60's-centric
Swingin". In 2004 she began working with Graphique
de France , which published a series of vintage-inspired
greeting cards and a 2006 calendar, Momisms: Mom's words of
Wisdom.
Painterly
An avid painter of pet
portraits, Lisa takes an uncommon approach to depicting her four-legged
subjucts by painting them in the style of the Old Masters. In 2002
Stewart, Tabori & Chang published two books
of her pet portraits, The Well-Bred Dog , Lisa Zador's
Cabinet of Curious Canines and The Well-Bred Cat, Lisa
Zador's Folio of Fabulous Felines. In 2004 she exhibited her dog
portraits at the Artis Group Ltd.
Gallery in Palm Beach, Florida. She is currently working
on a children's book entitled I Remember Toby, which she is
co-authoring with her 5 -year old maltese, Bingo.
Conceptual
Lisa's illustrations
can be either retro or painterly, but they are just as often
conceptual. In 1999, Artville/Getty published
Moods and Metaphors a CD of her background illustrations.
Her work has also appeared in Harper's Magazine, Bloomberg
Publications and The Sun-Sentinal in
Fort Lauderdale, Florida as well as in numerous annual reports
and trade publications.
